Fast Forward Forestry

Our Experience and Our Approach

My name is Don Charles, and I’m the owner of Fast Forward Forestry based in Riner, Virginia. I’ve built this company to serve property owners throughout Southwest Virginia with high-performance, environmentally responsible forestry mulching and stump grinding services. Our region presents unique challenges—steep slopes, invasive species like Autumn Olive, and sensitive ecosystems—which is why we invest in the right equipment and methods to do the job right.

Our machines, including the slope-ready RCU-55, are specifically designed to handle difficult terrain while minimizing environmental impact. Unlike traditional land clearing methods that rely on clear-cutting, burning, or pesticide use, our mulching process leaves organic material in place—boosting soil fertility, reducing erosion by up to 70%, and increasing water retention by 10–20% (NRCS data). We also contribute to long-term sustainability by sequestering up to 1 ton of carbon per hectare annually, as our method retains 30–50% of the carbon in the woody debris. At Fast Forward Forestry, we’re not just clearing land—we’re helping landowners restore, protect, and prepare their properties for what’s next.
